Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has recently released the list of central contracts of its players. Let us tell you that the name of Bangladesh’s experienced batsman Tamim Iqbal is not included in this list.

After this, a period of continuous speculation has started regarding his future in the national team. Whereas emerging players like new captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto and Shauriful Islam have been successful in getting deals in all three formats.

It is noteworthy that before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Tamim had left the captaincy of the Bangladesh team and had expressed his desire to play in this multinational tournament. However, Iqbal was not included in the national team for the World Cup. Whereas he had withdrawn his retirement decision last year on the request of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

So if we give you information about the new central contract of Bangladesh Cricket Board, a total of 21 players are included in this contract. Experienced players like Nazmul Hussain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, and Shauriful Islam have got central contracts, while Taskin Ahmed, who had contracts in all three formats, will now be seen playing only in ODIs and T20s.

Apart from Tamim Iqbal, names of great players like Ebadat Hussain, Atif Hussain and Moussadeq Hussain are not included in the central contract, after which the future of these players is hanging in the balance. Also, let us tell you that BCB also accepted the salary contracts of first-class cricketers for 2024, in which contracts were given to 85 players.
