Harmanpreet Kaur has been made the captain of the team for Women’s Asia Cup 2024.
Team India Women Asia Cup 2024 Squad- The Women’s Selection Committee on Saturday, July 06 announced the Team India (Senior Women) squad for the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup T20, 2024, which will be played in Dambulla, Sri Lanka. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, the BCCI has announced a 15-player squad for the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
The Women’s Asia Cup 2024 will start from July 19 and this tournament is going to be very important for the women’s team for preparations for the T20 World Cup. Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the Indian team in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024, while Smriti Mandhana has been chosen as the vice-captain. Mandhana is in great form these days. A lot of runs have come from her bat in the ongoing series against South Africa.
Defending champions India will begin their campaign against Pakistan on July 19. They will then face UAE and Nepal on July 21 and 23. The top two teams in this group will advance to the semi-finals. India’s batting looks strong, with Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana opening the innings. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur may bat at number 3.
Richa Ghosh and Uma Chhetri are the wicketkeeping options. The all-round skills of Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma will also help the team management to fill other spots and balance the playing 11 depending on the circumstances. After three ODIs and a Test against South Africa, Harmanpreet’s team is now playing the T20I series, India is currently trailing 0-1 in the ongoing T20 series against the visiting team.
