Team India will be able to play only one practice match before the start of its World Cup campaign, but no decision has been taken yet regarding the venue.
The final match of IPL 2024 will be played on 26 May, after which Team India will start preparing for the World Cup. T20 World Cup 2024 starts from June 2 co-hosted by West Indies and USA.
There will not be much time between the end of IPL 2024 and the start of the T20 World Cup, due to which Team India will have to suffer the consequences. Actually, Team India will be able to play only one practice match before the start of its World Cup campaign. However, no decision has been taken yet regarding the venue.
Let us tell you how Team India will face problems in its World Cup preparations due to IPL.
It is noteworthy that the league phase of IPL is ending on May 19 and the final is to be played on May 26. According to Cricbuzz, there is still a lack of clarity on why only one practice match has been scheduled. Teams usually play two practice matches before the group stage of an ICC tournament.
As far as the venue of the only practice match is concerned, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is trying its best to organize it in New York only. This is because India has to play 3 of its four group matches in New York itself.
ICC has currently scheduled India’s warm-up match in Florida. But BCCI is emphasizing that the team will be very tired after playing so much cricket due to IPL. At the same time, when the team has less time left, it does not make any sense to go to Florida for a practice match and come back to New York.
However, Team India is not in much need of a practice match as their 2 warm-up matches before the start of their campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023 were canceled due to rain. Despite that, India’s performance was on top.
The first batch of players will leave for the World Cup on May 26-26.
Let us tell you that the first batch of India’s squad will leave for the tournament on 25-26 May. The remaining members involved in the IPL playoffs will join the team after the final. Team India is in Group A of the T20 World Cup along with Pakistan, Canada, United States and Ireland. Their campaign will begin on June 5 with a match against Ireland in New York.
