The excitement of T20 World Cup 2024 is increasing day by day. The equation to reach the next stage of the competition i.e. Super-8 is becoming more difficult day by day. In this tournament, small teams are winning the hearts of cricket lovers with their performance. At the same time, former champion teams are facing the threat of being eliminated from the tournament.

England is in danger of being eliminated from the T20 World Cup

England, captained by Jos Buttler, is in danger of being eliminated from the tournament. England still has 2 matches left. These matches will be played against Oman and Namibia. The problem for England is that it not only has to win these two matches but also has to improve its net run rate. England’s net run rate is currently -1.8. The top 2 teams from this group will enter the Super 8. Australia has won both its matches and its next two matches are against Namibia and Scotland.

If Australia wins even one match, it will qualify for the Super 8. Scotland, Namibia and England are in a tough race to reach the Super 8. England will have to win both the matches against Oman and Namibia to reach the Super 8. A single defeat can knock them out of the tournament. Apart from this, if any of England’s matches are canceled due to rain, they will be out of the race for the next round. Along with England, teams like Pakistan, New Zealand and Sri Lanka are in danger of being eliminated from the T20 World Cup.

Seeing the situation of England, former English team captain Michael Vaughan has given a big statement

Michael feels that there is some problem with the England team in the ongoing T20 World Cup. He believes that the players are very strong right now but some things are probably bothering them. If this continues, then perhaps the England Cricket Board may take big steps regarding the players and the team.

Let’s know what Michael Vaughan said-

“We should not be surprised that England is in this trouble. England dominated the white ball format for a long time. But the team has been in a downfall for some time. The team and the board are making the same mistakes again and again in selection and strategy. From the outside, I feel that the players are very strong. It feels great to have such a strong set up but I have never seen a strong looking team win the World Cup.”

“In 2019, England won the World Cup playing fearless cricket, with Eoin Morgan leading that team strongly. The players knew what kind of cricket they wanted to play.”

“Three years ago England were the best white-ball team in the world and everyone else was trying to copy them. But you can’t sit still in the game and England did that. Other teams copied them but brought with them more skill and discipline. England have to be very careful. This team is clearly heading towards the end and they will go through a transformation after this World Cup.”

“In English cricket we never sustain success for long. We have had some good years. They (the England team) won the World Cup in 2019 and we thought they would dominate for years, but four years later they lost in India. They won the 2022 T20 World Cup, but lost to Scotland two years later.”
