England U19 won this match by 146 runs.
Currently the U19 World Cup 2024 tournament is being played. The 38th match of Super 6 was played between England and Zimbabwe today i.e. on 3 February at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom. However, a controversial moment was seen in the first innings of this match.
In fact, England’s young batsman Hamza Sheikh was given Obstructing the Field on one ball. All this happened in the 17th over of England’s innings when Ryan Simbi’s ball was defended by the English batsman. The ball hit his bat and hit the batsman’s leg. As soon as the batsman caught the ball and threw it back towards the wicketkeeper, the opposing team immediately appealed.
Let us tell you, Law 37.4 of cricket states: ‘The batsman is obstructing the field, if at any time the ball is in play and without the consent of a fielder, he may use his bat or his hand to return the ball to any fielder. Uses any part of the person.’ This means that if the batsman tries to pass the ball to the players of the opposing team without informing them, he will be considered out.
After this, both the umpires immediately went to the third umpire for the decision and Sheikh was given out. The young English batsman was also surprised as to why he was given out. Not only this, the England team was also unhappy with this decision.

Talking about the match, the England team scored 237 runs after losing 7 wickets in 50 overs. Charlie Ellison scored 76 runs while Haydon Mustard contributed 41 runs. Theo Wylie played a valuable inning of 61 runs.
In reply, Zimbabwe was all out for 91 runs and England U19 won the match by 146 runs. For Zimbabwe, Panashe Taruvinga played a valuable inning of 38 runs while Campbell Macmillian scored 10 runs. Apart from these two players, no other batsman from the team could cross the 10-run mark. Tajim Ali took 7 wickets for England.
