The 22nd match of The Hundred 2024 was played between Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave on 8 August at Kennington Oval, London. In the match, Oval Invincibles registered a thrilling win by 6 wickets. Batting first, Southern Brave scored 118 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the match.
In response, Oval Invincibles chased the target in 85 balls. During the match, an incident was witnessed which has become a topic of discussion on social media. Actually, the umpire got hurt by a shot from Sam Billings and he fell on the field.
Umpire escapes injury after being hit by Sam Billings’ shot
Sam Billings faced the 76th ball of the innings bowled by Southern Brave bowler Tymal Hills. Sam Billings tried to hit a big shot, but he hit the ball directly on the umpire’s shoe. After this the umpire fell on the ground. But then after a few seconds the umpire stood up on his own. The good thing is that the umpire did not get hurt much.

Jordan Cox needed a bit of form after returning from injury. (On Sam Curran) He is playing with a lot of clarity at the moment. He is playing brilliantly with that short side, we wanted to have a left-hand, right-hand combination. We knew Akeal Hosein would have to bowl and we were prepared for that. They are a quality bowling side, so it is important for us to perform like this. Everything did not go our way in the last two games, but we managed to win, this will give us a lot of confidence.
