After the death of Amol Kale in T20 World Cup 2024, the post of President in Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is lying vacant. So now the news is coming that the current Vice President Sanjay Naik, Secretary Ajinkya Naik and Bhushan Patil are leading the race to become the new president. It is worth noting that the election for the post of President is proposed on 23 July.

Sanjay Nayak, who is currently working as the vice-president of MCA, has the full support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mumbai. Now he has been asked by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Ashish Shelar to contest for the post of president. Also, Shelar is said to be close to former BCCI president Sharad Pawar, and Nayak is being supported by the Pawar-Shelar group.

Sanjay Nayak’s big statement came forward

Let us tell you that regarding the MCA elections, Sanjay Nayak was quoted by The Indian Express as saying- Today I was asked by our group leader Ashish Shelar from the Ashish Shelar-Sharad Pawar group to contest the elections. We will carry forward the legacy of late president Amol Kale and work in the interest of cricket in the city.

Nayak further said- Elections were required as per the new constitution. As per the old constitution, the vice-president was promoted when the top post became vacant. We have received a good response and trust of our voters.

Also, let us tell you that the most interesting thing is that Anjikya Nayak, who is working as the secretary of MCA, also has the support of the Shelar-Pawar group for the post of president. He has also talked about his long association with MCA and said that he also wants to carry forward the legacy of Amol Kale.
