India head coach Gautam Gambhir criticized Ricky Ponting for his comments on Virat Kohli’s form ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The former Australia captain commented that Kohli’s form is worrying and said that Sanjay Manjrekar told him that India’s star batsman has scored only two Test centuries in the last five years.
Ricky Ponting also said during this time that no player with similar statistics will fit in any international team. Responding to the same, Gambhir told Ponting to focus on the Australian team and not think too much about India. Sanjay Manjrekar did not like this statement of Gambhir and now he has made a controversial tweet on social media.

Manjrekjar requested the BCCI officials to keep Gautam Gambhir away from work like press conferences as he does not have the right conduct or words. The 59-year-old said that Gautam Gambhir does not know how to talk, Rohit or Agarkar should be sent in his place for this job.
Sanjay Manjrekar raised questions on Gautam Gambhir immediately after his press conference. Manjrekar tweeted and wrote, ‘Saw the press conference of Gautam Gambhir. It would be a wise decision for BCCI to keep Gautam Gambhir away from such duties. Let them work behind the scenes only, he (Gambhir) neither has the right words nor the right manners to talk to them. Rohit and Agarkar are right to talk to the media.
