“There is no concern about him becoming ICC chairman”- PCB President said about Jay Shah

A few days ago, Jay Shah was elected unopposed as the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). He will start his tenure from December 1, 2024. Since he became the chairman, such statements are coming out in which it is being told that, Pakistan Cricket Board i.e. PCB has a problem with Jay Shah becoming the ICC chairman, the board is not happy with his decision to become the chairman? Now the statement of PCB President Mohsin Naqvi has come out on this.

Mohsin Naqvi said that there is no concern about BCCI Secretary Jay Shah becoming the ICC Chairman. At the end of last month, Jay Shah was elected unopposed as the ICC President. The current President Greg Barclay did not want his third term. In such a situation, elections were to be held, but no other contender stood before Jay Shah, so he was elected unopposed as the ICC Chairman.

PCB President Mohsin Naqvi gave a big statement on Jay Shah becoming ICC Chairman

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi also spoke about Jay Shah becoming ICC chairman and the next Asian Cricket Council meeting. “We are in touch with Jay Shah; there are no concerns about him becoming ICC chairman. The ACC meeting is on September 8 and 9,” Naqvi told reporters, as quoted by Geo News.

Naqvi also confirmed that he will not be present at the meeting and said, “I will not be able to attend the meeting and Salman Nasir will attend it. Matters related to the new chairman will be finalised in the meeting.” Jay Shah will take over as ICC chairman on 1 December 2024. He is the youngest person to become ICC chairman.

He is the fifth person from India to become the ICC chief after Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar. Pakistan is to host the ICC Champions Trophy next year, but it is believed that as soon as Jay Shah becomes the ICC chairman, he can announce the decision that Team India will not go to Pakistan to play the ICC Champions Trophy and Team India’s matches will be held at neutral venues.
