We don’t need to concentrate cricket in the hands of a few people, we need to make it egalitarian – Rahul Dravid
Under the coaching of Rahul Dravid, the Indian team won the T20 World Cup 2024 title in June. After this his tenure ended and now he will be seen as the head coach of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025. Meanwhile, he has made a big statement about Indian cricket. He believes that Indian cricket is very powerful.
Let us tell you that there is no dearth of talented cricketers in India and this is because cricket is being played all over India and many such young players have emerged from there who have performed brilliantly in IPL and domestic tournaments. After this, some of them have made their name at the international level.
Former Indian coach Rahul Dravid believes that these young players are responsible for the change that has come in Indian cricket.
Indian cricket is very strong and powerful- Rahul Dravid
Dravid was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo, “If you look at Indian cricket today, Indian cricket is very strong, it is very powerful. One of the big reasons for this is that talent comes from everywhere, from all over the country. Even if there were talented boys in small places, they had to come to big cities to play cricket, but today I think you see in Indian cricket that boys are coming from everywhere.”
He continued, “You just look at the standard of Ranji Trophy. In the old days when you played in South Zone apart from Hyderabad or Tamil Nadu, I think it would be fair to say that not many other teams can take it lightly, but certainly you can take it a little more lightly.”
Dravid said, we need to strengthen the clubs. We don’t need to concentrate cricket in the hands of a few people. We need to make cricket egalitarian, we need it to be everywhere. You can’t have talent or facilities concentrated in only one or two places. To get the best out of the talent, we need to ensure that young players are getting access to good infrastructure in every part.
