Recently, Root has become the highest run scorer for England in Test cricket.
On the fourth day of the first Test match between Pakistan and England at the Multan Cricket Stadium, former England captain Joe Root batted brilliantly and converted his century into a double century. With this, he has become the highest run scorer for England in Test cricket.
So before the series against Pakistan, Root had become the player to score the most centuries for England in the Test series against Sri Lanka. But he was out after playing a marathon inning of 262 runs against Pakistan.
But this innings was not easy for Joe Root. It was not easy to bat for more than two days in the hot environment of Multan, Root also suffered cramps several times and also became dehydrated on the field.
But the player’s hunger for runs was not showing any signs of diminishing. After this marathon innings, he has become the 5th player to score the most runs in Test cricket. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis and Ricky Ponting are present ahead of Root.
Joe Root gave a big statement
After playing this brilliant innings against Pakistan in Multan, Joe Root was quoted by The Standard as saying – I am obviously proud, but I still feel that there is a lot left to do and a lot of runs to be scored. I always think that your best (century) is your next century. You have to be hungry and willing to find ways to get better besides just contributing.
Root further said- I am sure that when I complete it, I will revisit it at some point and feel very proud of it. But we still have a chance to win this match which is exciting. We will see how it feels at the end of the Test match.
