Maxwell last played a Test match for Australia in 2017.
Experienced all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has still not given up hope of playing Test cricket for Australia. In the biggest format of the game, Maxwell was successful in achieving the historic Baggy Green for Australia in the year 2013.
However, after this, he got to play only 7 Test matches for Australia in the next four years. Also, in 2017, Maxwell was last seen playing in red ball cricket for Australia.
But now speaking on this, Maxwell said that there is still a ray of hope left and he wants to go after it. Also, let us tell you that even after all-rounder Cameron Green is out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Cricket Australia (CA) is not looking towards Maxwell. However, Maxwell is hopeful that this will change soon.
Glenn Maxwell gave a big statement
Regarding playing Test cricket for Australia, Maxwell was quoted by ESPN Cricinfo as saying – I think that if I gave up that dream of playing Test cricket now, I do not think that I would be able to do justice to the young Glenn Maxwell who Dying to wear baggy green as a kid. I think as long as there is a ray of hope left, I will keep trying for it.
Maxwell further said- I think the hardest thing with Test cricket is that when I grew up, that’s all I wanted to do. I definitely got my chance in Test cricket early. When I got the chance to debut, it all happened very fast. I had no idea what I was doing. Perhaps I did not get the experience of first class cricket that I would have liked.
