New Zealand has registered its first Test win against India in the 21st century after a historic win on Day 5 in Bengaluru. Before this, the last time the Kiwi team had defeated India was in 1988 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Black Caps’ only win in India came in 1969 and since 1988 they have not won a single Test against India in India.

After the bowlers, the batsmen also showed tremendous performance. They scored 402 runs and took a huge lead of 356 runs.
With this they registered the joint fourth biggest win by a visiting team against India in India. In 1948, West Indies had the highest lead of 490 runs against India in Kolkata.

After taking a lead of 356 runs in the first innings, New Zealand restricted India to 462 runs in the second innings. Due to which the Kiwi team got the target of 107 runs. After losing the first two wickets of Tom Latham and Devon Conway, Will Young (48*) and Rachin Ravindra Jadeja (39*) led the team to victory.
This is the first time in 24 years that a visiting team successfully chased 100 or more runs against India in India. The last time this happened was in 2000, when South Africa achieved the target of 164 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.
