Former Australian captain and legendary cricketer Ricky Ponting was working as the head coach of Delhi Capitals since 2018. Ponting was the coach of the franchise for seven years, but the team could not win a single trophy during his tenure. Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal says that he wants to appoint an Indian as the new head coach of the team, who can find local talent and promote them.

Speaking further, Ricky Ponting also indicated that the head coach of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 could be an Indian.
