Pakistan had to suffer a humiliating defeat by 5 wickets in the first T20 match of the series against Ireland. In the match, Pakistan, batting first, scored 182 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. In response, the host team chased the target with one ball remaining.
After the match, former Pakistani player Younis Khan has advised Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan to work on their strike rate. Also, Rashid Latif has expressed his displeasure over the decision to hand over the captaincy to Babar Azam before the T20 World Cup.
Powerplay should be used better- Younis Khan
Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has advised Babar Azam, Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman to adapt themselves to modern T20 cricket. “I think our top-order batsmen Babar, Rizwan and Fakhar should start working on their strike rate, and utilize the powerplay as much as they can,” he said during an event in Karachi. “
In the first T20 match against Ireland, captain Babar Azam played an inning of 57 runs in 43 balls. Whereas Fakhar Zaman scored 20 runs in 18 balls and Mohammad Rizwan was run-out on 1 run.
Babar should not have expected to be captain again – Rashid Latif
Former Pakistani player Rashid Latif believes that due to frequent changes in captaincy, the atmosphere of the team has deteriorated significantly. He has also questioned the decision to remove Shaheen Afridi as T20 captain after just one series.
Rashid Latif while talking on his YouTube channel said, ““I don’t think Babar should have expected to captain white ball cricket again after the board removed Shaheen Shah Afridi as captain after just one series.”
