South African cricketer David Bedingham is looking for a UK passport, but he does not seem to have any intention of playing for England at the moment. It is worth noting that David has played four Test matches for the African team.

Apart from this, he was recently seen playing for the Durham team in Division Two of the County Championship. While playing in the tournament, David scored a total of 926 runs in 14 matches at an impressive average of 71.23. But even after this performance, he could not make media headlines because a player like Ben Stokes was present in the team.

David Bedingham gave a big statement

Let us tell you that in a recent interview with Cricbuzz, David said- My plan was always to get a UK passport. Right now I am trying to do this and if that happens, I will play as a local player.

David further said- It may be possible for me in two years’ time. It would be foolish for me to think about playing for a country for which I am not eligible. If I had been playing only in England for six or seven years and had not gone back to South Africa, there was a possibility of being eligible to play for England. But now it is not so, and I am clear about playing for South Africa.

On the other hand, now David will be seen playing for the South African team in the two-match Test series against the West Indies starting from August 7. After Dean Elgar’s retirement from the game, David can prove to be an important player for the Proteas team in Test cricket.
