This incident was seen between Dindigul Dragons and Nellai Royal Kings in TNPL
Veteran Indian cricket team spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was seen lashing out at an on-air commentator for attempting a mankading out on him in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2024) match.
While Ashwin has reacted to this Mankading attempt by a user through social media. It is worth noting that in the ongoing TNPL, a match was played between Dindigul Dragons and Nellai Royal Kings on 28th July.
In this match, bowler Mohit Prasad was seen warning Ashwin for a runout at the non-striker’s end during the 15th over of Dindigul Dragons’ innings. However, at this time when the bowler was about to release the ball at the non-striker’s end, Ashwin’s bat was inside the crease.

On the other hand, when a social media user wrote about this – why is the commentator not telling that he was at the crease at the time of delivery, and it would have been not out. While answering this user, Ashwin wrote – because he (the commentator) does not know the rules.

what is the rule of doing mankading
So in the year 2017, ICC issued a rule regarding this, according to which – when the batsman standing at non-strike goes out of the crease before the bowler bowls the ball, then during this time if the bowler gets him out, then it is called ‘Mankading’ run out.
But the necessary condition for this is that the ball should not have been thrown till the bowler has ‘Mankaded’ the batsman. That is, once the bowler’s hand is ready to throw the ball at around 90 degrees, then he cannot do Mankading during this time. Because at this time it is considered that the bowler was completely ready to throw the ball.
