Devdutt Padikkal, playing for Rest of India, took the catch of Prithvi Shaw in the Irani Cup.
The Irani Cup 2024 match is being played between Mumbai and Rest of India at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In this match being played with red bat, Devdutt Padikkal of Rest of India took a brilliant catch and played an important role in giving the team its first success. Devdutt Padikkal jumped in the air and took the catch in the slip and dismissed Mumbai team’s opener Prithvi Shaw cheaply.

Actually, Prithvi Shaw was trying to hit a shot towards cover but the ball took the outer edge of the bat and went into slip. Due to overcast conditions in this match, Rest of India captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to bowl. This decision of the captain proved to be correct to a great extent in the first hour of the match, because Prithvi Shaw was dismissed by Mukesh Kumar on the first ball of the third over.
After that Mukesh soon showed Hardik Taimor the way to the pavilion. Devdutt Padikkal, standing at second slip, jumped in the air to his right and took the catch of Prithvi Shaw. Shaw was out in this match after scoring four runs in 7 balls.

Let us tell you that Devdutt Padikkal has made his Test debut for India and has also played two T20 International matches. At present he is doing well in red ball cricket and in the coming time he may get a chance again in Team India. However, he is currently away from the team in white ball cricket.
It is noteworthy that Padikkal made his Test debut against England in Dharamsala in March this year. He was successful in scoring 65 runs in that test match. He got a chance to bat in only one innings. Earlier in 2021, he made his debut in T20 International cricket on the tour of Sri Lanka and scored 38 runs in two innings.
