T20 World Cup 2024: Bangladesh had to face defeat by 4 runs in the last match against South Africa. In this match, Bangladesh bowlers showed a brilliant performance and restricted the opposing team to a total of 113. Jaker Ali broke his bat into two pieces

The 19th over of Bangladesh’s innings was bowled by South African fast bowler Otniel Bartman. After facing the last fast bouncer ball of the over, Jaker broke his bat in anger. In the video shared by ICC, Jaker Ali first hits the bat on his knee, and then breaks it into two parts. After breaking the bat, Ali throws it on the ground, after which he signals the dressing room to bring another bat.

Bangladesh needed 11 runs to win in the last over. Keshav Maharaj dismissed Zaker Ali (8) and Mahmudullah (20) on the third and fifth balls, giving away just 6 runs. Both batsmen tried to hit big shots and were caught by Aiden Markram at long-on.

Bangladesh is currently in second place in the Group-D points table with one win and 2 points from two matches. On the other hand, South Africa has confirmed its place in the Super-8 with three wins and 6 points from three matches. Bangladesh will play its next match against Netherlands on June 13.
