Defending champions Chennai Super Kings registered their first win of IPL 2024 under the captaincy of new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad on Friday night. In the very first match of the tournament, CSK started the tournament with a win by defeating RCB by 6 wickets. Batting first, RCB scored 173 runs at the loss of five wickets.

In reply, CSK easily achieved this target by losing 3 wickets. Rachin Ravindra, who was debuting for CSK, scored 37 runs in 15 balls, while captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 15 runs. After this, Ajinkya Rahane played an inning of 27 runs and Daryl Mitchell played an inning of 22 runs. In the end, the pair of Dubey and Jadeja made an unbeaten partnership of 66 runs for the fifth wicket and led the team to victory. Jadeja returned unbeaten after scoring 25 runs and Dubey returned unbeaten after scoring 34 runs.
