If we call Virat Kohli the second name of record in the world of cricket, then there will be nothing wrong in it. Virat will return to the field of play for the first time since January 2024, having played his last T20I match against Afghanistan. Now Kohli has joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp and will face MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first match of the IPL 2024 season on March 22.
The interesting thing is that Virat Kohli can make a special record on the very first ball of IPL 2024. However, to do so, RCB will have to bat first as their former captain is just one run away from completing 1000 runs against CSK in T20 cricket.
So far he has scored 999 runs in 31 innings at an average and strike rate of 37. He has scored 9 half-centuries against CSK so far. Along with this, Virat has also hit 37 sixes along with 74 fours against the five-time champion.
As far as IPL is concerned, Kohli needs 15 more runs to complete 1000 runs against CSK and he will be the second player to do so after Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan has scored 1057 runs in 29 innings at an average and strike rate of 44.04. Rohit Sharma is at third place in this list with 791 runs in IPL history against MS Dhoni and his team in 33 innings.
