According to the latest media reports, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have approached former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman to join the team’s coaching staff for IPL 2025. Although the 55-year-old Laxman is currently the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), it is quite likely that he will not renew his contract which expires in September 2024.

It is worth noting that when Rahul Dravid’s tenure with Team India as head coach ended, BCCI was about to make Laxman the new coach of Team India, but he turned down this offer. Laxman cited personal reasons behind this and said that he cannot travel with the team for 10 months.

Also, let us tell you that Laxman has a lot of experience in coaching in IPL. VVS Laxman was associated with the one-time champion Sunrisers Hyderabad for a long time. Apart from this, considering Laxman’s experience and skill, any IPL team can include him in the team’s management group.

Justin Langer may be sacked

Before the start of IPL 2023, Lucknow Super Giants appointed former Australian player Justin Langer as the head coach. However, before the upcoming season, there is a possibility that the franchise may part ways with Langer. On the other hand, Laxman can join LSG as a batting coach, mentor or head coach.

Also, as NCA head, VVS Laxman can be replaced by former Indian cricket team batting coach Vikram Rathore, who has been associated with Indian cricket since 2012. Recently, Laxman was seen coaching during the five-match T20 series on Team India’s Zimbabwe tour, where India won 4-1 against the host team.
