VVS Laxman’s tenure has been extended by one year.
Former Indian veteran player VVS Laxman has put an end to all speculations by accepting the offer to extend his tenure as the head of NCA (National Cricket Academy). VVS Laxman’s tenure has been extended for one year.
Let us tell you, VVS Laxman took over as the NCA chief in November 2021, his three-year contract is ending in September 2024. According to media reports, Laxman was offered the post of head coach by an IPL franchise, due to which he did not want to become the head of NCA again.
VVS Laxman will work together with these legends
Sitashu Kotak, Sairaj Bahutule and Rishikesh Kanitkar will work as assistant coaches along with VVS Laxman. During his first three-year tenure, Laxman has prepared a roadmap for injury management, player rehab, coaching program and senior team, junior team and women’s team. As NCA head, he will again work to hone new talent and train the players.
VVS Laxman was the head coach of India during the Zimbabwe tour
After the T20 World Cup 2024, Team India went on a tour of Zimbabwe for a five-match T20 series. VVS Laxman was the head coach of the team in this tour. Because Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach ended after the T20 World Cup and Gautam Gambhir was going to take charge from the Sri Lanka tour.
In the first T20 match of the Zimbabwe tour, India had to face defeat by 13 runs under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. But then the team won the remaining four matches and won the series 4-1.
The new National Cricket Academy will be inaugurated soon
The new National Cricket Academy is going to be inaugurated soon in Bengaluru. The new National Cricket Academy has three world class sports grounds, indoor cricket pitches including 45 practice pitches. The new NCA also has training recovery, sports science facilities as well as an Olympic size swimming pool, which will help in the rehab of cricketers and also help the players prepare before the important cricket season.
