Sri Lanka’s best player Wanindu Hasaranga has resigned from the captaincy of his T20 team. He resigned before the home series against India. Let us tell you, today i.e. on 11th July, Sri Lanka Cricket announced the schedule of the limited overs series against India at home.

With this, on this day, Wanindu Hasaranga also resigned from the captaincy of the Sri Lankan team. Wanindu Hasaranga captained the Sri Lankan team in a total of 10 matches including the T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. Under his captaincy, the team won 6 while Sri Lanka lost four. Under the captaincy of Wanindu Hasaranga, Sri Lanka won the series against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. However, Sri Lanka’s performance was very poor in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 which was played in West Indies and USA.

Sri Lanka could not even make it to the Super 8 of this important tournament and had to face defeat in the group stage against South Africa and Bangladesh. Sri Lanka won only against the Netherlands while the match against Nepal was cancelled due to rain.
