In the final match of Women’s Big Bash League 2024, Melbourne Renegades defeated Brisbane Heat by 7 runs under DLS rule and won the trophy of this important tournament for the first time. All the players performed brilliantly for Melbourne Renegades and made valuable contributions to their team’s victory.

Hayley Matthews’ all-round performance helps Melbourne Renegades beat Brisbane Heat in the final

Due to rain, Brisbane Heat had the target of 98 runs in 12 overs. However, the team could score only 90 runs after losing 6 wickets. On behalf of Brisbane Heat, captain Jess Jonassen played a brilliant inning of 44* runs in 28 balls with the help of 5 fours and 1 six but she failed to lead her team to victory. Wicketkeeper-batsman Georgia Redmayne was out on a personal score of 16 runs while Nicola Hancock scored 13* runs.

Haley Mathews also left her mark in bowling for Melbourne Renegades and took two wickets for 24 runs in three overs. The rest of the bowlers also did their job well. Melbourne Renegades won the Women’s Big Bash League trophy for the first time.
