The first test match played between West Indies and South Africa ended in a draw. South Africa was in a very good position to win this match but due to rain the match ended in a draw. West Indies players also performed very well in the first test.

Batting first, South Africa scored 357 runs for the loss of all wickets in their first innings while West Indies were all out for 233 runs in their first innings. After this, South Africa declared their second innings at 173 runs for the loss of three wickets. West Indies were able to score only 201 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their second innings and the match ended in a draw.

After the match ended, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma made a big statement about his team’s performance. Temba Bavuma was very disappointed that he could not win the first Test. He also made a big revelation about the pitch.

Temba Bavuma said during the match presentation, ‘We performed very well from our side. In the end we had very little time. The wickets did not break as much as we had expected. However, the team’s batsmen played their role very well. Batsmen like Tristan Stubbs would have gained a lot of confidence from such an innings. We lost a lot of time due to the weather.’
