Australia defeated England by 28 runs in the first T20 match.
ENG vs AUS: The Australian cricket team is currently on a tour of England for the White Ball series. On 11 September, the first match of the three-match T20 series between the two teams was played at the Rose Bowl ground in Southampton. Let us tell you that in this match, the host team was defeated by Australia by 28 runs.
Batting first, Australia set a target of 180 runs for England to win, chasing which England was all out for 151 runs. Now after this defeat of the team, a big statement has come from England cricket team captain and wicketkeeper Phil Salt. Salt says that there was a lack of partnership from his team, due to which they lost.
Phil Salt reacts to England’s defeat
Let us tell you that after the end of the first T20 match between England and Australia, Phil Salt was quoted as saying by The Standard – They finished on a score which we felt was chaseable to a great extent. But we kept losing wickets at the wrong time. We lacked big partnerships to keep us in the match.
Salt further said- When you don’t win matches, you are not happy with how things are going. I think Sam has all the tools to become a world-class all-rounder – and he is currently one of them. When you don’t win, you have all kinds of ways, but we are happy with the team we have got.
On the other hand, after winning the first T20 match, Australia will now be seen playing against England in the second T20 match on September 13 at Sophia Gardens ground in Cardiff. It will be interesting to see whether the host team is able to make a comeback in this match or not?
