Afghanistan created history by defeating Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2024. The Afghan team managed to make it to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup for the first time and the hero of their victory was Naveen-ul-Haq. Naveen wrote the script of Afghanistan’s victory by taking four wickets. With this victory of Afghanistan, Australia’s team was eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2024.

In this match, Naveen took a total of four wickets. First of all, he took two consecutive wickets in the third over of the innings. The Afghani fast bowler first dismissed Nazmul Hasan Shanto (5) and then Shakib Al Hasan (0) in this match. Then in the last over, Naveen dismissed Taskin Ahmed (2) and Mustafizur Rahman (0). For this brilliant performance, Naveen Ul Haq received the Player of the Match award.

After receiving the Player of the Match award, Naveen Ul Haq said, “I want to thank Allah for this achievement, we have worked hard for this for the last few years, we were dreaming and working for this day and it is an unreal feeling. We always knew that they would work hard in the powerplay to chase the target in 12.1 overs.

So we knew we were in the game, the plan was simple – to execute the plan and we got crucial wickets in the powerplay. These are matches you never know what can happen, after a boundary, you think the match is gone, but a wicket brings you back in the game.”

He further said, “So there is very little scope for error in these matches. Such wickets are not high scoring so you always remain in the game. We have worked hard for this and we are in the semi-finals, we are very happy.”
