Commentator Harsha Bhogle has given his opinion on IPL retention
The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League recently ended, where Kolkata Knight Riders won the title for the third time. The Shreyas Iyer-led team won the trophy by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. This season has just ended and the franchises have started preparing for the 18th edition of the tournament.
Let us tell you that the first mega auction of IPL 2025 will be organized, in which each team will be allowed to retain limited players. The remaining players will have to come into the auction pool.
Now famous commentator Harsha Bhogle has given his opinion on this issue. He believes that teams should be given the option to retain six to eight players instead of four. Apart from this, he asked the team to retain the stars they have discovered.
Know what Harsha Bhogle said
Harsha Bhogle said in a video on his YouTube channel, If we can maintain the sanctity of the purse then I think we should have six to eight retentions. KKR’s Venky Mysore has come up with a very practical suggestion, which is that you should be allowed to retain players if they have a fair market value, otherwise no retention but eight right-to-match cards. I know this will change the dynamics of the auction drastically, but it is something worth considering.
At the same time, after the end of IPL 2024, Harsha Bhogle recently revealed his best playing XI. With four foreign players in the team, he picked Virat Kohli, Sunil Narayan, Sanju Samson and many other stars in his best XI.
