The Afghanistan Cricket Board has expressed disappointment over Cricket Australia’s decision to postpone the three-match T20 series. According to him, this decision of Cricket Australia is very wrong and they should not mix sports and politics at all. Let us tell you, this three-match T20 series was to be played in August.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board advocated keeping cricket separate from political influence but Cricket Australia acknowledged government pressure on its counterpart CA. The ACB stressed the importance of tackling the issue through collaborative efforts between the two cricket boards.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board said in its release, ‘The Afghanistan Cricket Board accepts the pressure coming from Cricket Australia to the Australian Government. This emphasizes the importance of addressing such issues through collaborative efforts between the two cricket boards. The ACB urges the Australian Government not to impose its own policies on cricket boards and instead focus on supporting the development of cricket in all areas.’

Let us tell you, even before this, Cricket Australia had postponed the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan which was to be played in March 2023. Cricket Australia had also withdrawn from the only Test match against Afghanistan which was to be played in 2021.

The statement further said, ‘Afghanistan Cricket Board appeals to Cricket Australia that they should respect all the boards and should not connect cricket with politics at all. The Afghanistan Cricket Board also agrees to all decisions that are given to them by the ICC or other cricket boards. We have full hope that Cricket Australia will understand our support.
