Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials to retire jersey numbers 18 and 45. Notably, after winning the T20 World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma decided to retire from T20I cricket, following which Raina asked the BCCI to retire their jersey numbers.

Raina said that the governing body had decided to retire the number seven in honor of MS Dhoni and should do the same for Kohli-Rohit. He said that the youth should feel inspired by seeing the iconic jersey numbers and try to create a legacy for themselves. Along with this, he praised the Indian legends and thanked them for their contribution to Indian cricket.
