What Is Buchi Babu Tournament? The Buchi Babu tournament is starting from August 15 and its final will be played from September 8 to 11. Players like Suryakumar Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan, Ishan Kishan will be seen in the tournament.

The tournament will feature 10 teams, including defending champions Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Railways, Gujarat, Mumbai, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Hyderabad and Baroda, along with two local teams TNCA President’s 11 and TNCA 11. The Buchi Babu tournament will be played in Tirunelveli, Coimbatore, Salem and Natham in Tamil Nadu.

Know Buchi Babu Tournament How did it start?

The Buchi Babu Tournament is one of the oldest and most prestigious first-class tournaments in India. The first season named after Indian cricket pioneer M. Buchi Babu Naidu was played in 1909-1910, a year after his death. Starting out as a memorial event, the tournament quickly gained popularity.

It became an invitational competition when the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association took control in the late 1960s. The Buchi Babu tournament remained India’s biggest first-class tournament until the Ranji Trophy was introduced in 1934.

Who is the defending champion?

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association organized the Buchi Babu tournament in 2023 after a gap of a full 6 years. Madhya Pradesh is the defending champion, having defeated Delhi by a huge margin of 250 runs in the final. The tournament remains a big platform for the rising stars of the whole country. In which many state teams, and cricket clubs participate in it.
