The new chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Shah Khawar has recently given a statement that the continuous changes in the board have nothing to do with the performance of Pakistan cricket team. Shah Khawar told the media in Lahore on January 26 that the performance of the Pakistan team could be due to other important things but the change in the chairmanship of PCB is not the reason at all.

Let us tell you, the performance of Pakistan team has not been so good in international cricket for some time. Even in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, the team could not make its place in the knockout. Not only this, recently Pakistan team had to face 4-1 defeat in the five-match T20 series against New Zealand. Pakistan team has failed to leave its mark in all three formats.

Shah Khawar said, ‘I don’t think the team would have made any changes due to whatever changes have taken place in the board in the last one year. This may be a small reason but it does not have a big role in the poor performance of Pakistan team. Decisions are taken according to the orders given by all the people.

There is a misconception that the government or ministry is interfering or taking decisions in cricket matters. The key people of the board take decisions and only then the new chairman takes over the post.

Shah Khawar further said, ‘We want that the players should not face any problem related to money and we are taking important steps for this. We are also in constant talks on the central contract and this should be of first importance for the national team.

Mohammad Hafeez was in the board’s office and he met me. Wahab Riaz and Chief Operating Officer Salman Nasir were also with me. He also talked to the board about some dues. His contract was for one month and it ended on December 15.
