Rahul Dravid’s current tenure as the head coach of the Indian team is till the end of the T20 World Cup to be held next month. In some media reports, it has been said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approached Gambhir to become the next head coach after his former teammate stepped down from the post.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra was asked if Gambhir should become the next head coach of India. Aakash Chopra said that, “Not a bad choice, there’s no doubt about that, because he’s a simple guy. He knows how to build and manage a team.
When it comes to auctions I give them really high ratings. However, there will be no auction for this as Indian team coach Gautam Gambhir is a very strong personality.” The former Indian opener said, “When there is a change, a new captain is coming, then yes. However, if there are already many senior players in the team, I would be a little cautious as Gauti’s working style is almost like that of a strict father. When fathers are strict, children have to be a little careful.”
He concluded by saying, “When you have very senior players in your team, you are looking for a big brother who puts a hand on their shoulders and does not try to impose himself. However, this is not going to happen with Gautam. It is simple for Gautam. In a group of senior players, things may not go in your favor every time.”
