After KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bat first, Marcus Stoinis scored 58 runs in 43 balls and Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni played important roles as the Super Giants reached 163/5 in 20 overs. Titans had a great start in the run chase also. As expected, Lucknow handed the ball to Mayank Yadav in the powerplay. However, he bowled only one over and gave away 13 runs in it. After that Mayank went out of the field due to side strain problem.
After this, Thakur gave the first success to Lucknow by dismissing the in-form Shubman Gill on the last ball of the sixth over. Finally, by the time he finished his spell, the young bowler completed the haul of five wickets for 30 runs in 3.5 overs and GT was all out for 130 runs.
