Deepti Sharma lofted the ball from Kirstie Gordon straight towards Scrivens, who went to catch the ball but misjudged the speed of the ball and it hit her on the face.
England women’s player Grace Scrivens recently suffered a serious injury in the ongoing In the Hundred Women 2024 tournament. While trying to take a catch, the ball hit her face and she is badly injured. The incident happened during the match between Trent Rocket and London Spirit at Trent Bridge.
Interestingly, Grace Scrivens performed brilliantly during the first innings and scored her first half-century in the game off 41 balls. However, the 20-year-old England batsman failed to catch the ball of Indian women cricketer Deepti Sharma, due to which the ball hit her face and she suffered a deep injury on her eye and a large laceration on her left cheek.
How did this incident happen?
During the game, Deepti Sharma lofted a delivery from Christie Gordon straight towards Scrivens, she went to catch the ball but could not judge the speed of the ball and the ball hit her face directly. The blow was so severe that her cheek swelled immediately and then the team physio took her out of the field. But after the team’s victory, Grace returned to the field and her injury looked more swollen than before. Along with this, black spots had also formed on her face.

Speaking about the incident, Katherine Sciver-Brunt said:
“There are black marks on her face. The injury is getting bigger with every second. She needs to put ice on it immediately. None of us realised that the ball had hit her face. I hope she is okay.”
Eventually, Trent Rockets Women defeated London Spirit Women by 31 runs and kept their hopes alive in the tournament.
