India defeated South Africa by two wickets in the first semi-final of the Under-19 World Cup 2024. They achieved the target of 245 runs given by Africa in 48.5 overs. It was not easy for Team India to chase the target as at one time the team’s score was 32/4 in 11.2 overs. However, captain Uday Saharan (81) and Sachin Dhaas (96) took over the innings and made a huge partnership of 171 (187) for the fifth wicket and in the end India won by two wickets.
The hero of this match was without any doubt Sachin Dhaas who scored a brilliant 96 runs with the help of 11 fours and one six. 19-year-old Sachin missed out on scoring his second consecutive century in the tournament. Earlier, he had scored 116 runs in 101 balls in India’s last group match against Nepal in Bloemfontein.
