Pakistan qualifies for T20 World Cup 2026: Pakistan’s team was knocked out of the T20 World Cup last week. Pakistan lost to arch-rival India in the opening match, but before that the US had given Pakistan a historic and shocking defeat.
Pakistan’s chances of remaining in the tournament depended on Ireland’s victory against the USA, but the match was cancelled due to weather in Lauderhill, ending Pakistan’s hopes. Pakistan and especially captain Babar Azam are being heavily criticised for not reaching the Super 8 and playing such poor cricket.
The matter has escalated so much that there is a demand for Babar Azam’s resignation. But meanwhile, such a news has come which has shocked everyone. Actually, the next edition of the T20 World Cup will be played in the year 2026, and only those teams will directly qualify in it which are in the Super 8. But Pakistan has also qualified for the T20 World Cup 2026.

Why and how did Pakistan qualify for T20 World Cup 2026?
Pakistan’s place in the T20 World Cup 2026 is subject to some basic rules of the tournament. According to these rules, 12 of the 20 participating teams get direct entry. India and Sri Lanka will be in the tournament as co-hosts and the teams that reach the Super 8 stage in the current World Cup will directly qualify for next year.
The remaining three places in the Super Eight will be determined on the basis of the ICC Men’s T20 Rankings on 30 June 2024. Apart from the Super Eight teams, the three best ranked teams will be selected directly. The list currently includes New Zealand (sixth), Pakistan (seventh), and Ireland (eleventh). So even though Pakistan is out of the T20 World Cup this year, they will get a chance to prove themselves once again in 2026. Apart from this, eight other seats will be determined through regional qualifiers.
