A campaign is being run for coach Rahul Dravid to win the World Cup.
Former Indian team veteran and current head coach Rahul Dravid has not won the World Cup in his cricket career. He neither got a chance to lift this trophy as a cricketer nor could he achieve this feat as a coach.
He retired from cricket in 2012 and after playing IPL for a few years, he took over the coaching of India’s Under 19 team. He had a lot of success as an Under 19 coach, and some players from that team also made it to the senior team.
Due to his excellent coaching in Under 19, he was given the command of coaching the senior team of India. But his coaching career with the senior team was unsuccessful. In all the mega ICC events like T20 World Cup 2022, ODI World Cup 2023, World Test Championship, Team India came very close to lifting the trophy.
Rahul Dravid is angry before IND vs SA Final
Dravid’s coaching career is going to end after the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. In such a situation, keeping this in mind, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has requested Team India that they should win the World Cup to honor Dravid.
A campaign is also being run on social media to win the World Cup for coach Dravid. But Dravid is angry with this and has said that there is no need for him to win the World Cup.
Let’s see Rahul Dravid’s statement
“It is totally against the kind of person I am. It is totally against my principles. I don’t believe in winning a trophy for someone. I remember someone saying that when asked why do you want to climb Everest, the answer was, I want to climb Everest because it is there, so why do we want to win this World Cup, hey we want to win because it is happening. It is not for any person, it is not for anyone.”
“We have come here to win this trophy and we have to win this World Cup. We have to play good cricket. I am completely against winning this trophy for one person. This is against the kind of person I am, against my principles, I don’t know what to say. I don’t even want to talk about it. I would be happy if you remove this campaign.”
