James Anderson ended his career as the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket.
England defeated West Indies by an innings and 114 runs in the first match of the three-Test series on the back of strong bowling by debutant Gus Atkinson and veteran James Anderson. In the second innings, the West Indies team was all out for 136 runs. With this match, the team bid farewell to England’s greatest Test fast bowler James Anderson.
James Anderson ended his career as the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. The entire East England squad gave a guard of honour to James Anderson but the question is being raised as to why the West Indies team did not give a guard of honour to Anderson?
Why did West Indies not give ‘Guard of Honor’ to James Anderson, who was playing his last match?
Speaking at the press conference, West Indies bowler Jaden Seals said-
‘”We had decided to give Anderson a guard of honour when he was about to come out to bat. But we forgot about the guard of honour because of the celebration of Shoaib Bashir’s run out. We were standing far away from him, so the guard of honour was not possible. The good thing was that Jason Holder went and shook hands with him.”
