ICC has fined Reece Topley 15 percent of his match fee.
The England cricket team is currently on the West Indies tour, where a five-match T20 series is being played between the two teams. England has taken a 2-0 lead by winning the first two matches of the series. The first T20 match was played in Barbados, during which English fast bowler Reece Topley was injured. Due to injury he could not even play the second T20.
Actually, he was bowling the third over of his spell and before bowling the ball, he got injured in his right knee. Topley had to leave the field after this, but during this time he made a mistake due to which the ICC fined him 15 percent of the match fee.
Reece Topley made this mistake
Reece Topley became very angry after the injury and while returning to the pavilion, he picked up a chair kept near the boundary and threw it into the railing of the stairs. Topley was found guilty of Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to causing damage to equipment or grounds during a match. For this, the fast bowler was fined 15 percent of the match fee.
Reece Topley pleaded guilty and accepted his sentence. Due to this he did not even have to participate in the formal hearing. However, this has affected the bowler’s disciplinary record, he has been given one demerit point. This is the first time this has happened with Reece Topley. If a player receives four or more demerit points within 24 months, he can be suspended or banned.
Topli had done such a thing even during World Cup 2023
Let us tell you, Reece Topley had done a similar act during the ODI World Cup 2023 match against India. He had kicked a chair away from him. The ICC did not impose any penalty on him for his behavior in the World Cup.
