South Africa coach Rob Walter said that the management wants to develop young players and hence has formed such a team.
After losing the T20 World Cup final, the South African team has once again started preparations to strengthen itself. South Africa is currently on a tour of the West Indies and is playing a 2-match Test series. After this, they have to play a 3-match T20 series from 23 August for which they have announced a 15-member team.
There have been major changes in this team, most of the senior players are out of the team due to various reasons, while two young players Kwena Mphaka and Jason Smith have been included in the team.
Star wicketkeeper-batsmen Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen have not been included in the squad as they will play in the CPL 2024, which begins on August 30. Meanwhile, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj and Marco Jensen have reportedly been rested to manage the workload.
T20 regulars Aiden Markram and Tristan Stubbs are both part of the team, while experienced Rassie van der Dussen has been included in this team. South Africa coach Rob Walter said that the management wants to develop young players, so such a team has been formed.
