When Hussey was asked on ESPN’s Around the Wicket show whether Dhoni would return next year, he said, “Your guess at this stage is as good as mine.” He is still batting very well. He prepares well. He reaches the camp very early and practices a lot. He has been in really good form all season.

“I think we just have to try to manage the physical side of things,” he said. He had knee surgery after last season. That’s why he has been managing the tournament since its initial stage. From my personal perspective I hope he continues to do so for the next few years. But we will just have to wait and see. He is the only one who will take this decision.

MS Dhoni has not got this much chance to bat, but has scored 136 runs in 13 matches at an average of 68.00 and strike rate of 226.67. At the beginning of this season, Ruturaj Gaikwad was given the captaincy of CSK, under whose leadership Chennai has performed well. The team has won seven out of 13 matches and is on the verge of making it to the playoffs.
