West Indies captain Rovman Powell has said that he has been chasing Sunil Narine for almost a year to join the team for the T20 World Cup 2024. But he told that Sunil is not listening to anyone and is refusing to join the team. Sunil Narayan is making waves in the IPL this year. Sunil Narine has put in incredible efforts with both bat and ball and has been a match-winner for KKR this season.
KKR faced Rajasthan Royals on 16 April in which, Sunil Narine scored 109 runs for the team and took two wickets. However, Kolkata had to face defeat due to the innings of Jos Buttler. But Sunil Narayan’s innings is being praised everywhere. People want him to play in the T20 World Cup 2024 this year so that the West Indies team can become stronger.
Sunil Narine wants to play World Cup?
Sunil Narayan Had retired from international cricket earlier this year. Sunil had told Samuel Badree after the last game that he would watch the World Cup from home but after his brilliant innings against Rajasthan, perhaps his attitude has changed a bit. In such a situation, West Indies T20 captain Powell (who is part of Rajasthan in the IPL) was asked whether he had talked to Sunil about his comeback.
Powell said that he has been talking to Sunil for quite some time, and has also urged Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Nicholas Pooran to convince him and help him change his mind. Powell said-
“For the last 12 months, I have been whispering in his (Narayan’s) ears; He has said no to everyone. I have spoken to Pollard, Bravo and Pooran to convince him, hopefully, they will convince him before the team is selected.”
