The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is going to invest 8 lakh euros in the Women’s The Hundred tournament to attract the best players from around the world. After this decision of ECB, the disparity in gender pay in the league will now reduce. While men’s salaries are going to be capped for the third consecutive season.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, the salary of each team in the Women’s The Hundred tournament can be increased by up to 40 percent. Currently, every team is getting 2.50 lakh Euros for the salary of women players, but now after the investment by ECB, every team is going to get 3.50 lakh Euros. After this, the top 2 players who used to earn 31,250 Euros last season will now be seen earning 50,000 Euros.

Also, let us tell you that there was a huge difference in the salary of Women’s The Hundred and the Women’s Premier League to be held in India. But now after ECB’s investment this gap seems to be filling. It is worth noting that in the WPL, Smriti Mandhana of Royal Challengers Bangalore gets the highest payment of Rs 3.4 crore (3.20 lakh Euros), which is much more than the 31,250 Euros per player in Women’s The Hundred. Apart from this, Australia’s Tahila Magrath and Ashley Gardner also get a good amount of money in WPL.

After this decision of the ECB, the salaries of the players are going to remain the same in the third season of The Hundred. No change will be seen in this. Last season, the highest cricketer was paid 1.25 lakh euros.

Earlier, the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC) had recommended to the ECB to increase the salaries of players in the men’s and women’s The Hundred tournaments by 2025, because there was a huge difference in the salaries of both. But before the upcoming season, the board has taken steps towards reducing this gap.
