The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be played in the UAE from 3 to 20 October. The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming tournament. The board has removed Nida Dar and handed over the captaincy to Fatima Sana. Pakistan’s performance was poor in the recent Women’s Asia Cup held in Sri Lanka, perhaps that is why the board has changed the captain.

22-year-old Fatima is going to lead the team in an ICC T20I tournament for the first time. She has previously led Pakistan in two ODIs. Pakistan lost one match, while in one match the team won in the super over against New Zealand. Fatima has played 41 ODIs and 40 T20 matches for Pakistan so far.

Pakistan did not make many big changes

Pakistan has retained most of the players from the Asia Cup 2024 squad. Only one change has been made in the squad, Sadam Shamas has returned to the team, who was part of the last T20 World Cup. Shamas has replaced wicketkeeper-batsman Naziha Alvi.

In Pakistan’s squad for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, Alia Riaz, Muniba Ali, Nashra Sandhu, Omaima Sohail, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Tuba Hasan, Sadaf Shamas, Nidar Dar and Fatima Sana are the 10 players who have played in the previous Women’s T20 World Cup. The selectors have also included uncapped fast bowler Tasmia Rubab in the squad.
