WPL 2024, MUM-W vs GUJ-W: The 16th match of the Women’s Premier League 2024 was played between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants. Gujarat Giants captain Beth Mooney won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Gujarat Giants had put 190 runs on the board at the loss of 7 wickets.

Mumbai Indians team chased the target with one ball remaining on the strength of captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten inning of 95* runs and registered a spectacular victory by 7 wickets. With this win, defending champion Mumbai Indians has reached the playoffs.

WPL 2024: Gujarat Giants team batted brilliantly

Gujarat Giants, who came to bat first against Mumbai Indians, got its first blow in the third over itself. Laura Wolvaardt lost her wicket against Hayley Mathews after scoring 13 runs. After which there was a partnership of 121 runs for the second wicket between Beth Mooney and Dayalan Hemlata. Captain Beth Mooney played an inning of 66 runs in 35 balls with the help of 8 fours and 3 sixes.

Dayalan Hemlata played an inning of 74 runs in 40 balls with the help of 9 fours and 2 sixes. On the basis of which the team scored 190 runs on the board against Mumbai Indians. For Mumbai Indians, Saika Ishaq took the maximum of 2 wickets for 31 runs in 4 overs. Whereas Haley Mathews, Shabnam Ismail, Pooja Vastrakar and S. Sajna had 1-1 wicket in her name.

Mumbai Indians got off to a good start while chasing the target. There was a partnership of 50 runs for the first wicket between Haley Mathews and Yastika Bhatia. Hayley Mathews lost her wicket against Tanuja Kanwar after scoring 18 runs in the 7th over. Then in the 8th over, Nat Siver-Brunt lost the wicket against Shabnam for 2 runs. Yastika Bhatia lost the wicket for 49 runs against Ashley Gardner in the 14th over.

After which captain Harmanpreet Kaur took the responsibility of the team and died after leading the team to victory. Harmanpreet Kaur played an unbeaten inning of 95* runs in 48 balls with the help of 10 fours and 5 sixes. Amelia Kar made an important contribution by playing an inning of 12* runs in 10 balls. Ashley Gardner, Tanuja Kanwar and Shabnam took 1 wicket each for Gujarat Giants.
