WPL 2024, UP-W vs DEL-W: The fourth match of the Women’s Premier League 2024 was played between UP Warriors and Delhi Capitals at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning had won the toss and decided to bowl first, which seemed to be absolutely right.

UP Warriors, batting first, could score only 119 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. Delhi Capitals chased the target in the 15th over itself and registered a spectacular win by 9 wickets, opening their account in the points table. This is the second consecutive defeat of UP Warriors.

WPL 2024: UP Warriors team faltered in batting

UP Warriors got their first blow against Delhi Capitals in the third over. When Vunda Dinesh returned to the pavilion for a duck at the hands of Marijne Kapp. After which Marijanne Kapp dismissed Tahila McGrath (1) and UP Warriors captain Alyssa Healy for 13 runs. For UP Warriors, Shweta Sehrawat played the highest innings of 45 runs for the team, due to which the team was able to reach a respectable score. For Delhi Capitals, Radha Yadav took 4 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs, while Marijne Kapp took 3 wickets for 5 runs in 4 overs. Apart from these, Arundhati Reddy and Annabel Sutherland took 1 wicket each.

Lanning-Shefali partnership led Delhi to victory

Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning gave a great start to Delhi Capitals while chasing the target against UP Warriors. There was a partnership of 119 runs between Shefali Verma and Meg Lanning. Meg Lanning played an inning of 51 runs in 43 balls with the help of 6 fours.

Whereas Shefali Verma played an unbeaten inning of 64 runs in 43 balls with the help of 6 fours and 4 sixes.
