WPL 2024, BAN-W vs DEL-W: The 7th match of the Women’s Premier League 2024 was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Batting first, Delhi Capitals put 194 runs on the board at the loss of 5 wickets.

Chasing the target, the Royal Challengers Bangalore team made a great start, but at the end of 20 overs the team could only score 169 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. Delhi Capitals registered their second consecutive win by defeating Bangalore by 25 runs. Whereas Smriti Mandhana’s team missed out on scoring a hat-trick of victory.

WPL 2024: Delhi Capitals batted brilliantly

Delhi Capitals suffered an early setback against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Meg Lanning lost the wicket against Sophie Devine after scoring 11 runs on the last ball of the fifth over. After which there was a partnership of 82 runs for the second wicket between Shefali Verma and Alice Capsey. Shefali Verma played an inning of 50 runs in 31 balls with the help of 3 fours and 4 sixes. Whereas Alice Capsey scored 46 runs in 33 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Marijne Kapp made an important contribution by scoring 32 runs in 16 balls with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes. On the strength of Jess Jonassen’s unbeaten innings of 36* and Arundhati Reddy’s 10* runs, Delhi Capitals put 194 runs on the board. Sophie Devine took 2 wickets for 23 runs in 3 overs. Nadine de Klerk took 2 wickets for 35 runs in 4 overs.

Smriti Mandhana’s special inning went in vain

Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a great start while chasing the target against Delhi Capitals. There was a partnership of 77 runs for the first wicket between Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine. Sophie Devine lost her wicket against Arundhati Reddy after scoring 23 runs in 17 balls. Smriti Mandhana continued her brilliant game and completed her first half-century in WPL. Smriti Mandhana played an inning of 74 runs in 43 balls with the help of 10 fours and 3 sixes.

Smriti Mandhana lost her wicket in the 12th over against Marijne Kapp. Richa Ghosh has failed to play big innings. She was out against Marijanne after scoring 19 runs in 13 balls. S. Meghna was also able to score 36 runs. After which the team’s hopes of victory ended. Jess Jonassen took the maximum of 3 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs while Marijanne Kapp and Anrudhati Reddy took 2 wickets each.
