Royal Challengers Bangalore women’s team captain Smriti Mandhana recently made a big revelation during an interview about her team’s journey in the Women’s Premier League 2024. Smriti Mandhana told how the team, after performing poorly in the first season, performed very well in the second season and won the hearts of all the fans.

Let us tell you, Royal Challengers Bangalore could not qualify for the playoffs in the Women’s Premier League 2023. However, in the second season the team has qualified for the playoffs. Smriti Mandhana is very happy with the fact that the management expressed confidence in the team and that is why all the players also performed very well in the 2024 season.

According to Cricbuzz, Smriti Mandhana said, ‘Last season we could not play as we thought. But in the last one year, we thought a lot about our game. Everyone worked very hard behind the scenes. Not only the players but also the support staff and RCB management made important contributions. He expressed confidence in us and that was really a good thing for all of us.

We had a conversation and what he said was that this is your team and make it the way you want. This thing was quite good from our side also. We would not say that we are very happy with our performance because we have seen a lot of ups and downs. We had a very good start but then there was a slight decline in performance. But that’s what happens in Women’s Premier League and T20 cricket, you have to see both good and bad days.

Smriti Mandhana praised Elissa Perry fiercely

Regarding Australia’s experienced all-rounder Alyssa Perry, Smriti Mandhana said, ‘Perry bowled very well against Mumbai Indians. I was standing in the mid-off and I was very happy to see the way he bowled. I know this wicket was not so easy but we performed very well with the bat also. I am also very happy with the fact that Richa and Perry finished the match in an excellent manner.

If we had won even one of the two matches in which we lost, we would have made it to the knockouts. But right now we are fully prepared for the eliminator match. Head coach Luke Williams was also with us after the Delhi match and he also encouraged us a lot. The support staff also did their job well.

We have seen a lot in the Women’s Premier League. In the very first match of the second season, a girl from Kerala hit a six on her very first ball of the Women’s Premier League. I was quite surprised to see this because he had no experience in this tournament at all. There are some other players whose names I am forgetting but many Indian girls performed very well in this tournament. Deepti Sharma also batted very well in the last match and it was very good for all of us to see her playing.
